Canterbury

Rental Market

Canterbury is the typical Canterbury Bankstown suburb, with an array of both low and high density residential, and some commercial properties. It is a popular suburb for renters, primarily because of its great shopping precinct, and fantastic transport system, which makes it very popular with white collar workers but also small business owners. Coupled with the many attractions and lifestyle Canterbury-Bankstown has to offer, Canterbury has now become a hotspot for renters over its close neighbours.

Rental prices in in the suburb vary, depending on the type, size and location of property. At any given time you could expect upwards of 120 rental residential properties advertised. They consist of a mixture of Federation and Austerity years style houses, but also apartments ranging from the typical 1970’s red brick style to new apartments.

Rental prices for a typical 1 bedroom apartment in Canterbury range from $400 to $450 per week and 2 bedroom apartment would be around the $450 to $550 per week mark. Canterbury also boasts a number of rental houses, varying in condition and age, with rental prices ranging around the $550 pw and upwards of $750 per week.

Why NextGen as your Canterbury Property Manager?

NextGen Property Mgmt (nextgenpm.com.au) is a Real Estate Agency that specialises in property management. Our agency employs fantastic real estate agents and we pride ourselves as being the best property managers in Sydney.  Our differentiator is that we are landlords ourselves! Canterbury-Bankstown and Canterbury in particular is our playground, and we have had a strong presence in the suburb since our inception as a real estate agency.

Today we have a large number of rental properties under management in the area and are always looking to add more as we just love the demographic. This is what he had to say when asked about the Rental Market in Canterbury.

“I’ve lived and worked in the area for 2 decades. In that time we’ve seen prices and rents double in value! Canterbury is major transport hub, with a thriving migrant community and renters are always drawn to it. The best thing about Canterbury though, is its location and transport system. Canterbury is on the Bankstown line and it takes less than 17 minutes to get to the Sydney CBD. Great for white collar workers.

These days, as a property manager, I have come to realise that, when considering the central location of Canterbury with easy access to the best that Canterbury-Bankstown has to offer, few suburbs fair better than Canterbury.

If you have any questions about the rental market, or would like a second opinion on you rental property, please let us know and our local property manager will be able to meet with you and discuss. Our advice to landlords looking for a property manager to manage their property, is to look for someone that has the capacity and headspace to care for their property, their tenant, and them as a customer. Our local dedicated property manager can certainly do that.
